CHICAGO, IL — January 19, 2026 — The Information and Decision Sciences Student Organization (IDSSO) has been officially recognized as a Registered Student Organization at the University of Illinois Chicago. This milestone formalizes IDSSO’s presence on campus and strengthens its ability to deliver consistent programming, expand partnerships, and support student development.
“Today’s recognition reflects a shared effort. IDSSO exists because students stepped up early, contributed their time and ideas, and kept building when it was still just a vision,” said Grant Hauskins, President of IDSSO. “I’m grateful to our officers, members, advisors, and supporters for co-creating a community that will keep serving UIC students.”
What this means
With RSO status, IDSSO can more effectively coordinate student engagement and deliver structured initiatives that help members build both technical capability and professional presence. IDSSO will begin hosting programming at UIC to support students who want to strengthen their real-world decision-making through analytics, judgment, and collaboration.
For UIC students
IDSSO is open to UIC students of all majors who want to develop as analytical, collaborative leaders. Members can expect opportunities such as workshops, guest speakers, mentorship, and community-based learning that help students build skills, relationships, and confidence for careers in data-driven environments.
For faculty, academics, and industry professionals
IDSSO welcomes partnerships that support UIC’s next generation of IDS talent. Faculty and professionals interested in contributing can participate through guest speaking, workshop facilitation, mentorship, or advisement — and by connecting IDSSO to broader academic and industry networks.
